Some people just don't know the correct reason to why we have seasons, what they think causes them are called misconceptions. There are a few common misconceptions as to why we have seasons.  Some think the distance between the Sun and Earth have to do with the seasons, others believe we get summer because the Earth moves in an orbit that goes closer to the Sun in the summer then further away in winter, or that seasons happen at the same time everywhere on earth.ALL of these are misconceptions.

In this picture, it shows the position of the earth at every season. (on the Northern Hemisphere)

The distance between the sun and the earth is different every time there is another season , but that's not what causes them. And yes, the earth moves in an orbit but is not closer to the sun during the summer and farther away in the winter. Finally something we should all know is that every where on earth it is a different season. When its winter in the northern hemisphere, it's summer in the southern. When it's spring in the northern, it's fall in the southern. It's the same concept for Autumn and Winter/
